How to vote in 2026: make your voting plan

Choose your state and how you'll vote, then tick off each step. It takes about a minute.

What is a voting plan?

A voting plan is three decisions made ahead of time: how you'll vote (by mail, early or on Election Day), when you'll do it, and where. This page turns them into a short checklist with your state's 2026 dates, each from its official source.

Does making a voting plan help?

Yes. A 2010 study in the journal Psychological Science found that voters who were asked when, where and how they would vote were more likely to vote. Source: Nickerson and Rogers, "Do You Have a Voting Plan?".

Is my voting plan private?

Yes. Your plan is saved only on your own device. Vote Clock never receives it, and "Clear my plan" removes it. The privacy policy has the details.

What if a date is missing for my state?

Vote Clock lists only dates checked against official sources. When a date isn't listed, the checklist says so and links your state's election office. Military and overseas voters have separate rules; see the Federal Voting Assistance Program.

What else can I check before I vote?

Find where to vote, see what's on your ballot, check the voter registration deadline for every state, or take the voting deadlines quiz.
