These terms apply to voteclock.org, the VoteClock countdown that others embed on their websites, and VoteClock's public data feed. VoteClock is operated by VoteClock LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("we"). By using VoteClock, you agree to these terms.
Always confirm with your election office
VoteClock is an independent information service. It is not a government website and is not affiliated with any election office. We take every date from official sources and show where it came from, but election rules and dates can change, and mistakes can happen. Before you act on a deadline, confirm it with your state or local election office. VoteClock does not provide legal advice.
Using the website
You're welcome to use VoteClock to plan your voting and to share links to it. Please don't:
- Use VoteClock or its information to mislead voters, discourage anyone from voting, or misstate when, where or how to vote.
- Present VoteClock information in a way that suggests we endorse a candidate, party, cause or organization.
- Try to break into, overload or disrupt the site, the data feed or the systems behind them.
Embedding the VoteClock countdown
You may embed VoteClock countdowns on your website for free, including on commercial and news websites, using the embed code from our site. In return:
- Use the code as provided, without changing what the countdown shows.
- Keep the VoteClock link and the source line visible.
- Don't place the countdown where it could be mistaken for an official government notice or an endorsement.
This permission is free, non-exclusive and can be withdrawn. We may change how the countdown looks or works, or stop offering it.
Using our data feed
Our public data feed at api.voteclock.org may be used for free for reasonable, non-abusive purposes. Please credit "Data: VoteClock.org" wherever you show it. We may limit or block traffic that affects the service for others. Election results, if we show them, come from a licensed provider and may not be copied or redistributed from VoteClock.
Ownership
VoteClock's name, logo, design, text and code belong to VoteClock LLC. Election dates, laws and other facts are public information, and the official documents we link to belong to their publishers. Our fonts are used under the SIL Open Font License.
Links to other websites
We link to official election offices and other sources so you can check information yourself. We're not responsible for the content or availability of those websites.
No warranty
VoteClock is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free, and we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, VoteClock LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss that results from relying on VoteClock instead of confirming with an election office, including a missed deadline. Our total liability for any claim relating to VoteClock will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars.
If you embed our countdown or use our data feed, you agree to be responsible for how you use it, and to cover VoteClock LLC for claims that arise from your misuse of it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use VoteClock after a change means you accept the updated terms.
